finally got some alage growth

Well I had water in my tank for about 3 weeks now (75 gallon tank with 30 gallon sump). I dripped about a gallon of kalkwasser in and overdosed the hell out of it...(im new to this), I have my salinity at 1.026. I had a friend bring over some of his Cheato and some skimate and dumped it into my sump. I turned off my skimmer for the night and let the skimate cycle through the tank. I turned on the protien skimmer and its picking up all the crap I dumped in. 3 days later, I have algea on the rocks and sand now. It looks like a yellowish/orangeish color.

Oh, I have also had 8 damsels in there for about a week as well.

Does anyone know what the name of the Algea is called and how long it lasts?

Thanks
Tom

Eight Damsels? Why? If you are using them to speed up the cycle, what do you plan to do with the survivors later? You won't want eight severely aggressive fish in your tank and you'll have a devil of a time catching them with rock in there.

You dumped in skimmate? What for? Sounds almost like you're happy to have algae. LOL
