So ashamed - a fish food question...
UGH
I'm so used to my chiclid and my freshwater fish always having an abundant amount of food on hand, as I pick up bloodworms, pellets and flakes regularly - i never even THOUGHT about making sure I had the proper food for my reef animals. I guess with all the panic about skimmers, rocks, test kits, powerheads, it just never entered my mind. So when I picked up my 2 clowns and algae blenny, I grabbed a bag of "Marine-S" food, simply because it had a clown on the bag and because I knew I hadn't done my research =( It's very tiny pellets, that as I drop them in, my clowns seem to grab one or two - eat them - and spit them out - and repeat until they land on the sand bed. Is this ok food? What should I suppliment it with? And is my algae blenny self-sufficent for the time being? There is PLENTY of hair algae, and other kinds, to keep him busy (he wont eat bubble algae, will he?) I've learned from my mistakes. The next fish added, after I research compatability, water paramaters and minimum tank size, I will be SURE to make sure I check diet. Thanks for all your help. |

One thing, never buy fish etc to help clean up algae in the tank. The main problem with this is so many do this, and the fish will be fine in the beginning, once the food supply of algae is gone it can and usually dies.
Mysis is a great frozen food, as well formula one etc. Make sure the food you buy has algae for the blenny. |

Do you have some high quality flakes for your Cichlids? Give them to your Clowns tonight and then get some Formula One Marine tomorrow.
