plumbing question

I have a 90gal that I'm starting up again afer it was down for awhile. I have 1 corner overflow that drops into a wet/dry. I need to set up a Reef Devil skimmer but don't have much room next to the internal return mag12 pump. I have an extra wet/dry that I was thinking I could use to house the skimmer. My question is can I connect the two wet/dry filters by using bulkhead fittings between the two with large enough plumbing so as to have good water flow between the 2 boxes? I would then use a seperate internal pump to operate the skimmer although I was also wondering if I could use 1 external pump with a T fitting to feed both the skimmer and return to the main tank with a gate valve to balance the two since the skimmer would be much closer to the pump that the main tank would be? With that in mind what would be a good choice for an external pump with about 6 ft of head loss?

I am no pro at pluming but I have an RC skimmer that sits outside my sump and this connects to the sump using a bulkhead and a piece of PVC and I get plenty of water into my sump so I think that connecting the 2 wet dry would work. HTH
