Coralife MH Hang on Ballast Bad

I have a Coralife Advanced Series Hang on Metal Halide light that after 2 years of use appears to have a bad ballast. I came in this morning and found my surge protector had been tripped and suspected the light was the culpret. Sure enough... even just plugging the ballast in without any connection the the lamp trips a breaker. I removed a cover from the switched side and nothing looks out of the ordinary. I'm figuring it is either the ignitor which could be replaced but guessing it is the rest of the unit that is packed in PBC's?

Who has had experience with these? Should I just get a new ballast and forget it?

Are they junk?
