Need help with new tank
A little history first. I have a 120 gal (60x18x24) tank full of mushrooms a few soft corals and a whole lot of hair algae. The hair algae has always been an issue and is very discouraging and I wanted to give up, but my fiancé would not let me get rid of it. . My fiancé and I have a new baby, Kyla, who is the center of our life. Now she is 9 months, which means we have a little more time on our hands than when she was 2 moths old, actually more sleep for all of us. During the last 9 moths the tank has gotten one water change and the skimmer has quit working. Also this last winter we had a power outage that lasted 60 hours. Most everything survived with me just turning the water with a pitcher every 2-12 hours. The tank will not die, so I take that as a hint that I am supposed stay in the hobby.
We are going to remodel our house and add a garage. We are going to move the tank up against the wall of the garage, so all of the equipment will be in the garage. I need help starting this tank over from the start. I plan on getting new lights, skimmer, and also going to grow macro algae in a refugium. I do not have a lot of time to read through all of the post, but I am just looking for some help to put it all together. We are probably a year away from all of this happening but I am excited and want to get things going now. I will post pictures through the whole project. Any help will be appreciated. I mainly want sps corals with a few varieties of anything else. I will leave it at that for now, but I promise this is for real and will happen. I will not be back on the computer until 4-22. Thanks in advance |
