Are stars any good

I thought i read on here that star fish, other than brittles were bad news in reef tanks?? Is it just there size and undermining abilitys that are a nuisance?? Or will they starve?? Or are they a good choice....

Most of them starve to death over a period of months, with some lasting a year or so. The rest are not reef-safe, and they don't necessarily do well, either.
