TAAM Rio Nano skimmer
I bought one of these 10 days ago, finally it came in the mail. I opted for the 3 day FEDEX home delivery, the product was in stock not on back-order! I called the distributor, I was told it was shipped 3 business days after I purchased it, then of course it took another 3 business days to get to me. So after two weekend delivery delays it shows up at my doorstep on a Monday. Anyways, now that I have vented my frustration about the distributor, it is the best $19.99 I have spent. Cleaned it, assembled it, put it on the aquarium, primed it and plugged it in. I left the baffle in at full restriction and the intake at full flow. I also adjusted the Venturi to 1 and 5/8th inch. Immediately it had bubbles rising half way up the tube. 12 hours later when I woke up it was beginning to produce the garbage. I am sure when I get home (24 hour period) there will be skimate in the cup. I love it so far, it is very quiet too. I am not sure how much skimate it will produce, it's rated for 20 gallons and my tank probably has 26 gallons of water in it. My bio-load is also very small, two clowns, one anemone, one cleaner shrimp, 16lbs of live rock, 40lbs of substrate, 400 bio-wheel with carbon, chemi-pure and phos-zorb. Still at 110gph it will still turn my water over 4 times an hour. The little carbon pack included is really not good for much other than eliminating bubbles back into the aquarium. Once it is clogged I will probably just replace it with some sponge. I highly recommend it to anyone with a 29 gallon or smaller aquarium.

Oh, I can't remember who I got it from, but Marine and reef sells them too, and the filter packs.

I read some reviews on it, some good some bad. It seemed to me the ones with bad reviews were just due to operator error, every good review I read people were very happy with it. I'll tell you this much, I am glad I got rid of my old sea clone. The sea clone produced skimate, but wasted alot of water, then eventually it was just overflowing the collection cup with water and no skimate. The Rio produces very fine bubbles and very dry thick skimate. I checked it at lunch and had a little in the cup already. It wasn't very black or stinky yet, but I think that's due to my very small bio-load. I may try some shrooms and zoes again, maybe a couple mor fish, then I bet I will get some nasty stuff out of it. So far I am happy with it though, haven't had any of the problems mentioned in bad reviews. I tis working well, just like those with good reviews about it.
