Frogspawn
Well, right now only corals i have in my tank are polyps, mushrooms, and a head of xenia. Im planning on a peice of frogspawn in the tank, but have just 1 question on it. My LFS store keeper told me that i dont need to check calc, mag, and the other one for softies. And my corals seem to be doing excellent! Now i was wondering if Frogspawn applies to this?

well, i think keep your perameters stable at least would be a good enough reason to check all your levels.
i couldnt imagine just taking for granted that everything is fine. in the past months there have been bad batches of salt and who knows what else, and if it wasnt for consumers checking whats going into their tanks nobody would have known that.

IMO it would be helpful to test your levels to know where they stand, I have a 58g softie tank w/ mushrooms, zoo's, gsp, leathers, and a frogspawn.
the frogspawn was baseball size 2 yrs ago, now its about 1.5-2 softball size. my levels have stayed as follows w/good growth: Amn-0 nitrite-0 nitrate-15 alk-9 ph-8.1 po4-0 calc-410 |

frogspawns use calcium which will be effected by magnesium and alk levels so yes I would test them.

Ah, my nitrates are always at 12.5, never go up, never go down. And all corals are doing fine. The reason that they are 12.5 is because when my tank was 15 days old, i put 4 fish in there (Stupid). 2 of them die, took nitrates sky high 30 ish, and 2 clowns live, after 2 50% water changes it went to 12.5 . I tried another 50% one, nothing happened. I do a 2 galon water change out of my 14 gallon tank, and it still never goes down. But its at 12.5, and they all seems to be opening. So im cool with it

Have you checked your water change/top off water for nitrates?

The guy from reefkeeper magazine said not to add calcium and magnesium but that the water changes would be enough to keep them at the correct levels from the salt mixes, but they do need to be monitored. I had high nitrates in my tank until I got an ro/di system from ebay, are you using tap water?
