Lumen Bright users.
I am having a 36 L x 24 D x 24 T rimless made. I wanted to see if anyone else was using a single mini or large pendant over a tank in similar size. I am going to do mainly SPS and want to try and do 1 single 400 watt pendant and get full coverage, hopefully. Havent made my mind on weather its going to be SE or DE but will definetely running the Reeflux 12K (Especially after seeing Mike's tank @ ReefSpecialty). Anyone with pics would be great, especially if your running 12K reeflux's on lumen brights with NO actinics.

Based on my readings you'll need 2 Mini LB for 36".

I was hopeful that one large lumen bright would work. They are 20" x 20".

One of the advantage of the LB is that it could penetrate deeper than most of the other reflector around but u will loose the side impact the farther away from the center the faster the light will lose it intensity if u want to do a single pendant I would suggest trying an LA iii they are very good spread ur whole entire will be cover by it search around there is a thread that has all of the compassion between this too that was done by someone or go to the LB thread and ask around

MercZ, I'm setting up a tank with the same dimensions right now, and considering the very same lighting/bulb choice. I haven't found enough direct info yet that would make me comfortable buying that type of setup.
I expect there would be enough light intensity, but am concerned about shadows cast from the single light source. I think it may depend on the aquascape taking advantage of the optimum lighting.. Like an island in middle, under the light.. or maybe a 'lagoon' type semi-circle of rock with the inward facing parts of the rock under the best light. It would be great to see more opinions about this.

I was actually thinking of doing some sort of tall U-Shaped island in the middle of the tank so that the SPS had great coverage. I wanted to use the sides for a few high colored zoo's or ric's. I have seen several rimless tanks on other threads using that type aquascaping and it looks great. I figured using the 400 watt large pendant, I could hang it high enough to have great par for the SPS and be able to cover the sides as its 20" wide and if I hang it in the middle thats only 8" on either side of the pendant to light. Was hoping that it would be more than enough for the zoo's and ric's on the sides.
