Simple Question
How long should I let the silicon dry after I put it around the pump for it to stop leaking?

What makes you think that silicone will stop a pump from leaking?

I do not think silicon is the proper thing to use on a pump. Where was it leaking from, and how old was it?
Also, what brand?

That was the thread that I had started about it if you look at the pic I put the silicon around the area with the white outline. If this doesn't work can you suggest another pump I should buy? |

I hope you pulled the cover where the O ring was and put it there, and not just smeerd it on the outside. If so I do not think that will do it. Good luck. I would have sent it back to Mag if it was less then a year old personally.

The mag pump is better suited to be run inside the sump as they are prone to leaking. I would suggest an Eheim pump if it must be ran outside of the sump. They are quiet and energy efficient and don't leak
![]() If you want to try and willing to risk screwing up the pump or having a worse water leak, then you could take the cover off and completely dry everything out. Then put a good bead of silicone around the entire perimiter of the cover, evenly tighten the screws back and let it set for 24 hours it might be water tight then. It also might leak all over the place ![]() Last edited by Playa-1; 04/29/2008 at 01:46 PM. |
