Cheap Rock - Free!

Last weekend I was outside Perry Florida scouting for good canoe/springs rivers and found a few forest roads that had rock piled on sides. Interestingly, there were two kinds of rock to pick through. Classic Limestone and Aragonite. Limestone was heavy, and the aragonite light and encrusted with shells, corals, etc. Amazing!

I loaded up about 200 lbs. Just hosed it off tonight and it's full of cavities and some even dense enough to describe as lacework.

Wow! I'll definitely stock up whenever in the area. The price is right.

Nice find! It's a little out of the way for me though.

Yeah, take 98 West out of Perry. It's before the intersection with 59. Basically, take you're pick. There is rock all over the place. I just pulled off on a forest road and their was rock piled up.

I'd recommend a sledge hammer, digging wedge, and a pair of gloves.

Thanks. I picked up some field stone in Marion Co. and only rinsed it off with a hose. About half of it devoloped a bad case of hair algae.
