Nooo!
alright guys ive had my 10g setup up for almost 2 yrs
durring thie period of time ive heard those snapping sounds that pistol shrimps make and thought it was ok cause it was just a pistol shrimp about 2 nights ago not to long after lights out i was examining my tank and right there in the spot of my eye, saw a small mantis, about 2 inches long or at least i think it was a mantis because it sure didnt look like a pistol shrimp i have noticed a couple of snails missing here and there over the past year but no fish or hermits missing so my question is how can i get this thing out of my tank? it seems to my fast in a crawling motion so that leads me to think its a mantis all tips welcomed |

Not sure... probably some type of trap I would imagine... just don't use your hands... haha
Check the mantis forum for some better advice.

if you've had the tank up for two years and have only lost a snail or two why worry?
mantis shrimp come in many different sizes and flavors and most of the small ones are relatively harmless. a couple of snails a year is a small price to pay for a pretty cool hitch hiker IMO. |

well id prefer to get it out and raise it in my 2.5g sitting around and see it in action then to spot it peeking out every once in a great while
other then that i wouldnt mind paying the price of a few snails a year to have an awsome hitchhiker |

shouldn't be too hard to get out of a 10g, try the mantis forum. I'm glad to see someone that just doesn't want to throw them out because mantis shrimp are amazing little critters.
