Who has a Tunze Wavebox?

I know there is a Tunze section, but the amount of folks viewing them threads is minimal compared to this one so...

Does anyone have a wavebox in a predrilled AGA tank? I'm wondering because I only have an inch from the water line to the top of the tank...is this enough? I can't think of how to 'lower the water level' in the tank since it has to be at least as high as the teeth to get to the sump.

Any suggestions?

Thanks to Richard Durso I have an idea...but not sure if it would work.

Maybe I could lower my water level in the tank by doing this:

I think this would lower the water level in the display, what do you all think? Plus it would allow more flow through the overflow box...

the wave box has a pump on the bottom of it... this means you would have to put a hole in the overflow box... and if power goes out water will drain to the level of that hole... not a good thing...

As long as water is going over the new cut area you wont need a hole. People have been running these with out cutting the teeth anyways. It all depends on your wave size and if you want to hear any gurgling/sloshing from the wave creating over the overflow teeth.

Now I'm REALLY confused...

What I was saying in the beginning of the thread was that there is only 1 inch of space from the water level to the top of the tank. If I want a nice 1 inch wave, I have to drop the water level in the tank somehow. The wavebox isnt going INTO the overflow box...

I was thinking if I cut out the teeth of the overflows, the water level in the tank might be a little bit lower therefore allowing me a full 1 inch wave (maybe a tad more) without spilling water out of the tank.

Any ideas?

Do you have that rubber piece installed on the top of the inner wall of the overflow? If so, remove it.

yes cutting out the teeth will lower your water level.

Just take a dremel w/ cutting disk and lower your teeth, my wave is about 1" high with my tunze original waterline was at the black trim never lowered my teeth, try it first and see if it o-flows

Mine had a rubber trim piece that sat on top of the inner wall. It was a huge flow restriction. Not sure what its purpose was.
