I' guessing it is soft and has a hole in the end of each "finger" in that case it is either a sponge or tunicate both harmless filter feeders.

yes it is really soft but im not sure about the holes in each finger looks like it but not sure like i said

I believe it's a sponge. Don't expose it to air.

are sponges good? bad? harmless?

You can't expose a sponge to air. 95% of the time, it will die. This is the case with many starfish, also. Yet, some do it and wonder why the things die.
