Carib-Sea Fiji Pink!

the granular size is what you want, it really doesnt matter what brand...i guess! its the only one my LFS carries, and the only one ive ever used.

it come dry or wet, the wet one is supposed to help it cycle faster since it says it has about 200,000,000 bacteria in a 20 lb bag.

a pinch of fishfood with the dry sand will help it cycle just as well!

were you asking about the best depth for a DSB in a display? i had to come back and read your thread again after leaving i thought...maybe thats what you were asking.

DSB in a reef display is usually about 4"-6" deep, and about 8" in the sump. (if you use/have one)

I use Caribsea Aragamax. Seems to do the trick.

IMO, for a DSB it is best to use sugar sized sand. Its is best to use to trap bacteria deep within the sand. I have about 180lbs of it in my display and sump. I register VERY small amounts of NitrAtes with a heavy stocking.... I beleive it is doing its job.

Just remeber that the typical life span of a DSB is about 4-5 years or so....
