Ich......the communist...

I bought a yellow tang 2 weeks ago and I did not QT him before I added him in.
My tank is a 120 gallon with blue hippo, yellow tailed damsel, clown, and a few inverts (emerald, 4 hermits, cleaner shrimp, 2 peppermints). The store I bought the fish from is very reputable and provides good service. As with the yellow clown, it was in a tank with copper for 2 weeks before I bought it (No signs of anything on him). If the yellow tang shows signs of ich what should I proceed to do? Will the cleaner remove the ich from the fish? Should I remove the inverts and treat the ich in the display? It is a FOWLR and inverts and NO REEF.....

The fish is eating and swimming well....It's kind of hard to diagnose it just with the spots (hard to see, maybe something attached to its tail). Can the fish fight off the ich????

Preparing for the worst....

just prey that tang doesn't have ich

That is a pretty big tank to be treating the whole tank.
If ich breaks out on any of the fish then you are best to remove them and quarantine them--then treat with hyposalination for 4-6 weeks
You tank will have to then remain fishless for 6weeks in order to be safe from ich

by the way my water parameters are as follows..

ph 8.2
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrates 0

Last question....Can ich develop in water without any fish being in contact with it???

I put my yellow tang in a few weeks back and I noticed the Cleaner Shrimp cleaning him the first day and there after. Though the yellow tang I got didn't appear to have Ich, it looked like the cleaner shrimp may have helped anyway.
