Spotted Sea Hare
I have a 29 gal tank loaded with hair algae, I read that these guys will do a great job, but will it eventually starve?

yes it will, i got one and did an amazing job on my hair algae and i even got attached to the thing but it died before i could find a new home for it. however, my algae hasn't come back since either. i would highly recommend one as long as you have a back up home for it after it's done with your tank.

The sea hare normally sold as a "spotted sea hare" is unlikely to touch hair algae. All of the species that are likely to eat it will quickly eat themselves out of house and home in a 29.
