Is this a good thing in my fuge or not???

I found this stuff growing in my fuge. I have about a handful of Chaeto and a hand full of rubble rock in my fuge. This stuff was growing on the rock and a few pieces were in the ball of chaeto when I turned it.

Is this good or do I need to get it all out now?

Thanks
Dave

Thats grape caulerpa. It is macro algae. It will export nutrients the same as your chato but it will go "sexual" at some point and release nutrients back into the water. I have not had any in my fuge but from what I hear, you can run your lights 24/7 and lower or delay the chance of it going "sexual". Personally I would pull it out as you see it and just stick with the Chato so you can run an alternate light cycle and try to keep your PH balanced but thats just my opinion.

I'm going to try and get rid of it. This is all I had in there and I pulled it all. Hopefully I don't get outbreaks of it.

Thanks
Dave

I've use it for years I let it grow with the chato and razor. I harvest frequently and no problem and it has went sexual and dumped into the tank but a little cloudyness Do a water change and no adverse affects noticed. Lots of people use it to feed fish my tangs love it.

i hate that stuff. Some got in to my main tank and it is hard, hard, hard to eradicate. It fragments easily and the roots and stems are very difficult to remove. I would suggest getting rid of it and finding some chaeto. My tang will only eat the newest growth but he can't keep up with it.
