On my QT, which also happens to be a 20 gallon, I have a CPR Bak Pak, small heater, and a small powerhead. I have a few pieces of bleached coral and PVC for the fish to hide in. You can get by without a skimmer and just use a hang on the back power filter but I think a skimmer helps alot.

HOB filter (preferably with seeded filter pad or sponge from DT, heater (unless your sure your room temp. will remain in the 78-80 range since it is summer) thermometer, a few short pieces of clean PVC pipe to give the fish a place to hide. Your HOB filter should give you some water movement, but you can add a small powerhead if you have one. Personally, I think an ammonia test kit is essential and you need to do frequent water testing, every day or at least every other day, since the ammonia can spike quickly because you do not have the benefit of the biological filtration provided by live rock. The other thing you need is a ready supply of saltwater, because you will be doing water changes at a much greater rate than you are accustomed to when running your display tank. Here is some good reading on quarantine tanks; the link is from the "sticky" at the top of the page. It looks from the number of posts that you have, that you are relatively new here. That sticky at the top of this forum has a ton of good information, if you have not already read it.
