how much flow for HOB?

setting up a 30gal tank and DIYing a HOB skimmer/ fuge 5gal. How much flow do I need going through the HOB? is this flow in addition to the 300gph I need just for tank movement?

Usually these things work best when the protein skimmer dumps into the refugium part. The pump that will be the intake is going to connect directly to the skimmer? If so your skimmer will dictate the flow.
