Skimmer hole placement?
This is a ASM G2 skimmer being fully modded, and i have some questions. There are three holes on the left side of the picture (Top, middle, bottum). One is for the supply of water to the skimmer, the other two are for the recirculation mod to and from the pump. 1. Where should the water feed line to the skimmer be placed? At the top or bottum? 2. Where should the pump be placed? As low as possible or right in the middle? 3. Where should the venturi be placed? Before the water goes into the pump or after? 4. Where should the two holes for the pump be placed? Should the pump feed hole be above the return hole? Or return hole be above the feed hole. (this is in regards to the recirulation mod and hole placement for the pump). 5. Also there is a box depicted inside the skimmer that i have seen in some of the more top of the line skimmers. I believe it is used to keep turbulence down inside the skimmer. I want to make one for my skimmer. Is there a science to this? Does the hole size at the top of the chamber have to be a certain size, or small as possible? Obviously the chamber has to fit inside the skimmer but is there any other size requirement . |

1. It's best to have the dirty water (feed line) coming in at the top of the reaction chamber.
2. Yes 3. The venturi should be placed on the pumps intake. 4. The pumps intake should be on the bottom with the pumps output coming back into the skimmer over it. |

How about pumps???
Should I stick with Sedra and go with the next size up? Or will the pump be too big for my asm g2. Any other pump suggestions? |
