lighting for fuge

i made a 29g sump for my 55g tank. within the sump i set it up so that i can have my skimmer a return pump and a seprate section for a fuge. i was wondering what lighting should i use for the fuge? the size of the fuge is about 10inches by 10 inches. Any suggestions?

I use a cheap clip on heat lamp with a power compact 6500k daylight bulb. It has worked great for me so far.

and how long are you leaving it on? i was told most people leave the fuge light on when the tank light is off and the opposite when the tank light is on. is this accurate?

Exactly. I run a reverse-photoperiod for my refugium.

During the day the photosynthetic corals consume CO2, the VHO actinics fire for 8 hours, and the halides for about 6 hours (I'm fighting algae with the shorter halide photoperiod).

At night, the refugium macro-algae consumes CO2, and the lights run for 12 of the 16 hours of dark.

Overall, it keeps the PH swings caused by increased to a minimum.

Same here. My VHOs run 12 hours (Noon to Midnight), MH 6 hours (3 PM to 9 PM working my way up to 9 hours) and Refugium runs 12 hours ( Midnight to Noon) opposite the VHOs.
