QT tank set-up question

OK I am setting up an in case of emergency QT tank. I got a 10 gallon & a Whisper 40gal Power filter. I currently have a Whisper filter on my DT that I use for added filtration but also water movement along with my other main filtration on DT & skimmer. Anyway, to "seed" my QT tank, should I just use the black sponge out of the Whisper filter out of my DT or use the actual pad for a while also to get beneficial bacteria. And also should I use some of the water out of DT and how much? I'm also going to transfer some of my LR out of DT also to speed up cycling. Any other additional tips would be appreciated. Please advise?

Run the pad in the main tank and place it in the Q-tank when you set it up. The main tank can go without if you are running a good skimmer. When you are done with the Q-tank sterilize the pad and put it back in the main tank for next time.

Really a good sponge filter is the way to go.

Don't add any live rock or sand to the Q-tank. You want to be able to use additives in there and that will destroy the live rock.
