Refugium Light

Ok the tank has been running for 7 weeks and I have a section of my sump as a refugium with Chaetomorpha. Thlight I have is a tube and is about 21" from the top of the water in of the fuge.
1. is that too far for the refugium?
2. Being so far will this cause growth in the rest of my sump and if som does it matter?
3. Also I will take any recomendations on refugium lighting right now I have a 18watt tube that 15"long?

Thank you

I don't think what your currently doing is going to be very effective.

This is the bulb that I'm using and I have it roughly 5" off the surface of the fuge.

I believe if you check out the lumens they are almost equal to Tswifty's and similar ones that i use
The extra wattage will give you more penetration but if your light is close to the surface and using chaeto IMO your lights or our lights will be effective.

Where are you getting your clip on lights from? I bought one from walmart but it was so cheap it would not even hold its own weight up and just flopped over

I bought mine from Canadian Tire (up here we call it crappy tire) but Home Depot carries them in both Canada and the US
