tank drilling question before I blow up my tank
does anyone know if a "top fin" aquarium sold at petsmart can be drilled on the back pane of glass???? I know the bottom is tempered...and I just attempted to drill a 29 gallon topfin and blew out the side panel... it was tempered ...I now have a 50 gal 48x13 x19 ??? any ideas if i can drill it?

you have to call up the manufacturer and ask them whether it is tempered. I do know that All Glass tanks are not tempered on the side side walls of the tank

In my experience, most (if not all) Top Fin brand aquariums are simply rebranded Perfecto aquariums. You can usually tell pretty easily as the bottom often has a small sticker with an anchor logo and the name of the person who made it. If you can find such a logo, that will confirm it's a Perfecto. In that case, simply go to Marineland's website and look for the aquarium spec sheet which gives information on all the standard tanks they make. This includes which, if any, panels of the aquarium are tempered.
Hope this helps! |
