There should be no problem with the distance between your RO/Di and the storage, but it may be slow. Thats about the only problem I can see, so long as your pressure is adequate

My RO/DI is in the hot water heater closet in the garage. My reservoir is next to my tank about 50 feet from the RO/DI unit. I have about 70' of tubing running though my attic. I have it automated using a set of electronic float switches that turn it on when its very low and a double set for turning it off.

You don't want to cycle your RO/DI every few minutes or it will shorten the RO units lifespan so either put it in a timer or have your reservoir almost empty before filling it again.

I still need to work something out for automating my backflush

there is more information on my build log

what if instead of using the tee if i just have the brute container fill up (using the float switch) and than gravity feed my ATO container (again using a float switch) than when i have my salt mixing ill just shut off the the line going to the ATO until the water change is complete? does that sound better?

your waste water line should have a built in valve or a bypass valve that should be opened every once and a while to wash of sediment build up on you RO membrane

I may rig up a solenoid valve on a timer to mine

I considered a couple options but ended up using a tee and both containers work (fill) independent. But, what you describe should work.
