Storing water.

I have one of those brute trash cans that came with a lid. I have decided to use that so I can store more water easier and age my salt water in larger quantities. I am concerned because the only place to store my can full of water is in the laundry room, where the cat litter box is. My question is do you think I could possibly contaminate the water by it absorbing any particles in the air? I am concerned about things like ammonia mainly. Thanks for any help.

I would say as long as you keep the lid on, your water will be fine.
