Thiel Aqua Tech
Has anyone heard of this company?
I was given a few pieces of equipment I have no idea how to hook it up. Some reactors have chunks of what looks like coral (I am guessing its a calcium reactor). Others are full of red plastic strips with a pressure gauge and a barb fitting. If anyone still uses this stuff or has a link that would be great. Thanks Ed |

Albert Thiel was a pioneer in saltwater aquarium keeping and was one of the first to manufacture and sell reef keeping additives and equipment in the 80's and into the 90's. I may be mistaken but i believe that he has pretty much been out of the business for the better part of a decade. Getting information or parts will likely be difficult. A experienced reefer with good do it yourself skills could probably identify what you have and even make it work. You may be possible to reach Mr Thiel here, albert@athiel.com

Thanks for the info.
I had to dig out my cellar to support the weight of the tank and had this stuff for over 15 years (never used). Oh well. Ed |

It sounds like you have a x-nitrate reactor, and the one with the red strips is likely an oxygen reactor or ozone reactor. Theil sold to Coralife, so perhaps they might have something.
I had quite a bit of the Theil stuff in the very early 90's, for sure he was the pioneer, along with Lamert Dehan (DAS). My favorite piece was the coil denitrator and I would love to find one. It worked awesome and kept nitrates at zero on my 200g reef.
