i use them both and they are both great pumps. I have to oil my little giant every 6 months but other than that, I would choose either.

I have the Little Giant 4 Series pump, and its great... I've had it about 1.5 years. But, I do agree with Turtleman... you do have to oil it about every 6 months or so... Though its not really loud... just depends on your harmonics in the area where the tank is setup. Just make sure you put foam padding under the pump to reduce vibration in the stand if thats where it going to be and use Flex PVC with unions to connect it ton the rest of your system. That way its not connected and rigid with the plumbing (that was my mistake)... I have it with rigid PVC plumbing and it has a little vibration, but minimal since i have foam under the pump. Other than that its a great pump very powerful. I have it on my 65 Gal. as my return and its actually throttled down on the output half way with a ball valve and its still T'd off running my chiller.
Hope this helps. Diver John |

I've been running a Gen-X PCX40 for ~ 2 years now as a basement return. Its been flawless so far. I cleaned it out once just for the heck of it. It is not a quiet pump, but for my application, that is OK,

How could it be silent? It has a cooling fan. I would assume it is quieter when not pushing the head of a basement sump, but cant see how it could be a quiet pump.
