Koralia Magnums

It seems that now koralias are really taking it to the next level. With flow rates up to 3,250 gph it seems they are starting to compete with tunze. The prices are also going up, a koralia magnum 8 costs $169 on sale for preorder on marine depot. I'm just wondering if you think these will be a good buy.

I'd love to find out how these perform. Especially on a wave timer. Anyone know their release date?

I'm not sure when they'll be out. It didn't say on the website.

Too bad. I heard on smaller tanks like 55g youd have the risk of slippage so you shouldent really risk using magnums.

HHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

IMO Koralia's been competing with Tunze for a while now, at least the nano-streams.

I hope they are more compact in size. At this point I may as well just stick a motor boat propeller in my tank.

Logzor, what do you mean by slippage? I wouldn't use these on a tank that small anyway. That would be a lot of flow. My sand bed already goes all over the place using 2 koralia 3's on my new 55.

I'm really excited by the fact that we're getting more options for high performance equipment that is energy efficient. I've been hesitant to bring my 135 (my "big" tank) back online with energy prices the way they are but with the improvements in pump and lighting efficiency that we've seen over the past few years it might become a reality sooner than I had planned.

The K2 that I have in my 30 nano works great, I really hope these do as well.

I have been eyeing the Magnums since I got a promo card in the mail. They certainly look impressive, plus the GPH give the Tunze's a run. However I wonder if they will be as reliable as my Tunze's have been.

I dont think you can count on them being as nice as the Tunzes. But for half the price, if theyre half as nice, youre still doing ok, right? lol

It looks like they caught on to the aftermarket mod people here on RC have been doing to them. I'd still just buy the #4 and do the 5 minute algae free prop mod.

No Kidding, that's why I went with a few nanos across the back rather than a couple 3's or 4's.

Anyone tried these out yet? They've been released. Would love to hear some reviews

I got one in the shop i work at ...the new thing on them is a AHS ...anti-heating system guarantees extra safty. this system automatically detects if the impeller is blocked and after 3 start up attempts cut the power supply to the pump preventing the motor from overheating ...I have not tryed it yet but it looks like a monster ... the 5 = 1650..6-2200..7=2700...and the 8=3250gph

They look like the size of a football though.

I actually found a way to get upto 2x the amount of flow from a K4. It requires a bit of modification, but it'll be much cheaper.

Just buy the Algae-Free SureFlow mod and use the black impeller and replace the stock orange one with it. Very easy and the output is AMAZING!
