how to qt diamond goby
i wanted to add a diamond goby to my tank. i'm worried about qt'ing this guy considering it feeds off food found in live sand. i do not want him to starve to death.
what's the proper way to qt him so he gets proper nutrition? |

i do not quarantine an obligate speciality eater [transl. obliged not to eat other things]---I look the fish over in detail, check for immaculate fins, round belly, clear eyes, no blemishes or spots and I will not buy it if there is a scale out of place or a ding or spot i cannot account for, or any evidence of sick fish in any tank remotely associated with this fish's sale tank.. I dip him once and thoroughly in a container of tank water between bag and tank, to wash off any thing that could have come in with him, and then I just feed everybody garlicized pellet and cross my fingers for 4 weeks. Take this extreme chance as few times in the history of your tank as you can manage..and plan for this fish to live for a decade. It goes not quite without saying: be sure your own tank meets equally high standards and that your acclimation is very careful.

and just make sure you have your QT tank setup in case your fish come down with anything. Make sure its cycled and ready to house all your fish. You never know what can come attached to a fish; just looking at it wont help so be prepared

I don't see an issue with qt ing a diamond goby. I have never had one that wouldn't eat frozen as well as sandsifting. Mine eat PE mysis, squid, brine shrimp, Krill......
You need to make sure the tank is covered though. They're great jumpers.
