2) place ricordea in cup and allow to attach 3) glue rubble to aquascape 4)??????? 5)PROFIT!!!

how long to they take to attach? Do you just put the cup on the bottom of your tank?

I tried the cup thing and had severe issues with my flow blowing them all over. I just used a wide rubber band (wide, to distribute the pressure) and banded them to rocks for a week or so, they almost always attach. fyi if you have one that has two mouths, you can put the rubberband between the mouths and they will split faster cause of the band.

you can try to glue them (superglue gel), but they often slime up too much for it to be effective. often I found it to be enough until they attached on their own, but not always.

If you have a sump, or better yet, a refugium, stick the cup in there for a few days. It'll attach within 3-4 days. I have a frilly mushroom in a small tupperware sitting on top of my ball of chaeto right now. I put it in there on Tuesday and as of last night, it had already attached itself to one of the pieces of rubble rock.

I've done the rubber band thing too, but I find that if it's too tight, it basically decapitates the stem of the coral. Make sure the rubber band is on there loosely.

bridals veil works nicely as well and keeps rubberbands off the shrooms

Get a piece of craft netting or tulle( some call bridal veil) with the larger holes at your local fabric store. Dont use the one with real small holes. Is cheap, about $1 to $1.30 a meter. Cut a piece large enough to cover the mushrooms and go around the rock a bit. Use rubber bands on the netting to hold it in place. Just tight enough to hold the coral loosely when it is expanded. In a few days to a week it will be attached. Works every time.
Works with alot of soft corals too like kenya tree, toadstool, leathers, etc. |
