copperband eating at the surface?

Ok, now that I have a webcam on my tank, and I see what the fish do when nobody is there to affect their behavior, I see my copperband butterfly at the surface. He looks like he is constantly eating something???

Here is a link, can anyone tell me what he is doing?

When I am there, he never stays up at the top. So this is all new to me

http://www.justin.tv/fishdoc

Thanks!

Chuck

Bizarre. Gill damage? You have a fuge, big tank. Should have plenty of oxygen. Gasping at surface? Maybe seeing reflection?

This species feeds almost constantly, and is not doing so: worrisome. I wish I had a clue.

he never does it when I am there, and he appears totally healthy?
When I am there, he just swims around and picks at the rocks and eats, but now I see him doing.. well, whatever he is doing?

Dunno?

There are lots of pods from the fuge and everything is doing well in the tank including him. And yes, all the water params are good too.

Bizarre!

I wonder if 2 of them would be less neurotic? i do not know a thing about butterflyfishes' attitude toward conspecifics.

good question? I got him to eat the aptasia, but I forgot to ask him if he liked it. Apparently, he is on an aptasia free diet.

I think he see something? He should try and get off the drugs. See this is what happens when you keep fish in a medical office, some of them get hooked.. pun intended...

my foxface is always doing that, and I have no idea why. I've had it for nearly two years and it eats like a pig, so I'm not worried about the health of the fish, but it is curious.
