Epsom salts OD

Hi All,
I just overdosed my 125 gallon reef with 4 lbs of epson salts. Water looks cloudy and corals look slightly stressed. Just started making water for water change. The brittle stars are not coming out for food. Anyone every do this and what was the out come. I am a stupid A**

Why do you use epson salt. I never heard of using this salt for reef tanks. JUst do a big water change as soon as possible.

Many of us use epsom salts (MgSO4 - magnesium sulphate) to boost magnesium levels. It's not the best chemical to use, but it does work.

4lbs is a LOT of MgSO4, I'm sure your Mg is through the roof and it's possible you threw Ca and alk levels off as well. Any sudden change can make corals unhappy, but I wouldn't panic. I think a few large water changes to get things closer to normal should help a lot. Make sure you test not only the Mg level, but also Ca, alk, SG and pH as well.

Current Tank Info: 150g mixed reef, 30g sump/refugium, LED lighting, 100lbs LR, coral beauty, flame angel, blue & yellow tangs, gobies, damsels, 6-line wrasse, lawnmower blenny, dottyback, clown pair, rabbitfish, shrimp, crabs, CUC.

Would epsom salt also make fish go crazy with the sqirts too?
