High Alk?

When everything in the tank is fine and the Alk is to high 13, How do you bring it down to about 8 or 9 without affecting everything else?

Thanks,

Just let it be. Alk 13 is high but not out of sight. It will drop on it's own with time. Also check your Calcium. It may be low. Alkalinity and calcium typically operate on a see-saw equation. If one is high, the other is usually low.

I'd look at the balance with the calcium and magnesium also. While you're not out of the ballpark, the relationship may be a bit out of whack.

There's a lot of info here. And links through it to numerous other articles on each parameter. I would ck. your Mg/Ca but I would not adjust them unless they are really outside the low end of the range. Have to read the articles but you don't want to precipitate Ca in your tank or on your equipment.

That's a good article, but this is the one that really helped me understand the whole relationship between Calcium and Alkalinity and how to fix imbalances. An easy read that gives some great practical advice:
