Snail leaving a zig zag white trail on glass

I have seen these trails on the back of my tank a few times now but they are gone within a day or so and do not know what they are. My 1st thought is that it is a female snail laying eggs to be fertilized. It is a 1/4inch wide band of a zigzagging white deposited on the glass. One snail seems to be guarding the whole operation. What is going on?

Cool, but it doesn't appear that I have a male to fertilize because this has been going on for months. Who has a male snail for me haha. This is the longest snail trail that I have seen from her yet, she seems to be getting desperate.
