Wow, what is this thing?

I was spot feeding one of my LPS corals and I noticed this guy moving along on a piece of live rock (not near the LPS coral or food). I've had my tank up and running since January of 2007 and have never seen this before. It has little tentacles/feelers around each segment and swims extremely fast. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks,
Ryan
(sorry if this is in the wrong forum, didn't know where to post this since I'm more of a lurker than a poster).

Thanks melev, I appreciate it though. I put this thing back in since it seemed to be dying when I removed it. I haven't added anything to my tank so I'm guessing this thing has been in it since I started my tank. I just started spot feeding so I'm assuming that that probably got this thing out and moving?

Lol, thanks for the responses. Yeah it seemed lifeless sometime after I took it out of my tank. Everything in my tank is doing great, and I haven't added anything for a very long time, so I'm assuming this thing has been in the rock since the beginning. The only reason I didn't get rid of it is because I've had this experience a long time ago before with a different creature; in the end, it turned out I had killed a nice little chiton.

My guess is some sort of epitoke from a bristleworm.

I swear that I shook one of those with a fresh water dip one time.
Iodide/Iodine works also.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I think I found it. It looks very much like the Syllidae.

in the middle of the page.

It seems like I should I kept this guy out as it is a predatory worm. Looks like I'll be night watching, lol.

No problem! Actually seapug, I googled "bristleworm epitoke" after you posted it and that's that's one of the pages I came across. So actually, thank you!

Yes, it's a syllid in the genus Amblyosyllis. There are only a few syllids which pose any problems in a reef tank and this isn't one of them.
