Advice on moving an aquarium

Other than "try not to."

At the moment it is rock and some snails only. Not having fish ought to make it easier.

Also, anyone have advice on how i can hook an RO unit up to either a facet or a shower-head-screw-thingy? The place I'm moving really doesn't have any accessible large hose-style facet outlets.

Actually if done right not a big threat to your livestock. I tore down a 75 gallon soft coral tank with fish and live rock and moved it to another city all in one day with 0 loss in the winter.

Use coolers for the fish and live rock. Leave the substrate in the tank with a little water. make plenty of new water but use 50% of old.

this may seem obvious but take the time to make sure it's level before and after being filled in it's new spot, also the more 5 gallon buckets you have the easier it will be

And don't forget lids for those buckets.

My move this summer went fairly well. I lost a few small SPS frags afterwards, but they were somewhat stressed before the move anyway.

What took me by surprise was how much of a hit the microfauna in the tank took. It was crawling with copepods and everything else before the move, and after the tank is bare. Now, roughly 6 weeks after the move, I've just started to see signs of them coming back. Hopefully it returns to the healthy microscopic circus it was before my move.

As far as the RODI hookup - can you tee the coldwater input to your washing machine and hook up there? That's what I have always done.

I remember when zoanthids were called things like "green" and "orange" and not "reverse gorilla nipple."
