Mag pump help FAST PLEASE!
Turned my return pump back on tonight (Mag 5) and it's rattling like crazy and not pumping.
Took it apart a couple times and reseated the impeller. The impeller is spinning, but not pumping. HELP!?!?! |

If the impeller is spinning then I think it should be pumping. Unless the magnet and the prop have separated so that they do not spin together. The rattling suggests that something is loose. Is the metal pin through the impeller secured at the ends into its seatings in the pump? Is thre anything built up inside the pump that is preventing the impeller from freely spinning?

the prop spins independent of the magnet on the impeller.
I see the teeth/ grooves from the magnet into the prop, but it doesn't seem to catch the prop. I pulled the pin out, cleaned the impeller parts in vinegar, put it all back together ... same thing. noisy as heck, but no pumping of water. |

Yep, I'm assuming the impeller is bad. Off to the store tomorrow.
Looks like the critters will be swimming in stale water for a day. |
