Question Mites or Pods on LR???

I know those terms are used for MANY things but I don't know what to call them. I actually have 2 bugs I am concerned about.

First, I have little white bugs on the front glass of my aquarium. Don't seem to move much and I only see them when the light is off. I use a flashlight.

Second, I have some little bugs running around on my live rock. They kind of remind me of bugs we found outside that we called potato bugs as kids. They are smaller than that and seem to be very quick.

Any help?

Some I have spoke with say it may be overfeeding. However, I have cut their food way back.

Sounds like copepods or amphipods. Excellent things to have in your tank and a great supplemental food source for grazing fish.

Its no doubt that is what they are. I would no worry too much about cutting food back unless you have an algae problem or high nitrates.

This happened within the first few months of my 55g reef and they population crashed down to normal levels after awhile. Just enjoy them while there are so many around, its kind of neat.

not a result of overfeeding, and very likely just harmless pods. they're a good addition to any tank, and I wouldnt worry about them.
