Do they have good head pressure when used as a sump return? or are they lame??... like the old eheim hobby pumps...I need to pump up 52" plus a return elbow...how much flow would I lose ???

ANYONES EXPERIENCES WITHE EITHER WOULD BE APPRECIATED ....thanx

you would loose quite a bit of flow they dont handle head pressure all that well your better of going with a pressure rated pump.

I tested a 1260 some time back and this is what I came up with:
I used a Kill A Watt meter, 10 psi pressure gauge, ball valve, 1 inch water meter, flooded suction and 1" plumbing on the discharge.
Open discharge - 782 GPH at 63 watts
1 psi (2.3') - 492 GPH @ 60 watts
2 psi (4.6') - 433 GPH @ 54 watts
3 psi (7') - 356 GPH @ 50 watts
3.5 psi ( 8') - 300 GPH @ 46 watts
4 psi (9.5') - 253 GPH @ 43 watts

They are fine at the typical 4'+ range, and handle that head better than most submersibles.

I have a friend going to loan me a Eheim 1262 for a few days so I can test it, hopefully late next week I will have results or both it and the OR 3500.

If you could find a Mag9.5 somewhere, that would be good to add the the 900 GPH pump test.

I've been using a 1260 for the last couple of years and it's been absolutely bulletproof and silent. If anything it's a little bit underrated and pushes up almost 5' without issue - this is with a UV tee'd off and an also eductor on the end.

The only difference between a 1260 and 1262 is the volute which you can buy separately.

I use a 1260 for many years now for a sump return externally with no problems at all.
I can say it pump much more water than the company say.
