I've used Poly Filters, which I believe can remove both nitrate and nitrites from your water. That said, though, I'm a big fan of controlling such things naturally when at all possible via good skimming, refugium, water changes, regular maintenance etc... I like to use a little bit of Poly Filter (it can easily be cut with scissors) from time to time just because it's extra security and pulls out all sorts of bad things from the water that you may not know are in there, but it's far from necessary and regular upkeep and sensible reef keeping are just as effective at keeping nitrates and nitrites under control. Just my 2 cents worth.

Since you have limited real estate, regular water changes and trying your best to resist overstocking will probably be your best friend. Poly Filter will definitely be helpful, but regular water changes will work far better, even though they're more work and time-consuming.

theres a place that I can stick a pad. I have one tiny goby and a brittle star and a couple of snails - sand sifting and algae eaters.
Lots of soft corals. |

How big is your cube, if you don't mind me asking? Ideally you'll want to have the pad in a place where water flows through it and not just around it or having the pad sit in stagnant water. Poly Filter (and other pads) work best when water has to go through it, since more flow through it equals more nasties removed from the water. It may be hard to get water to through it in a cube, but just put it in an area of high flow and try to get water to through it as much as possible.
Best of luck, Joe p.s. I'd get another small fish so the goby has a friend, but that's just me. :-) |

possibly a little inspiration...
Filter pads arent the greatest. They also can consume a lot of real estate. |

I use poly filter 24/7. It catches so much junk from my overflow. Poly filter is cheap and disposable so I change it out every 1-2wks
