how much light for FishOnly
my father in law is setting up a fishonly tank not really interested in corals, how much light is really needed for a fish only tank...oh yeah perferably cheap to.. lol
its a standard 48" 55gal. i was thinking like a basic 2bulb t5 setup might be enough? or a 4bulb pc... thanks...

The fish don't really care. Standard fluorescents would work fine too.

I would go T5 bulbs are cheaper to replace and if you do ever decide to add low lights corals the t5 may be sufficient

A 4 bulb PC setup isn't a bad choice. Especially since he only wants fish. UVL just came out with some nice pc bulbs that offer a few more color choices as well. With a 4x65 pc setup this would allow him to keep some softies to just in case the coral bug bites him....like it has done to so many of us.
