Is my Maxi-Jet 1200 too much...

for my 55gal?? The reason I ask this is because I seem to have a hard time finding a comfort zone for with this thing. My feather dusters seem to dance alot compared to when I see them in the LFS so I try to find a good spot and direction for the water flow so as not to kill any livestock. The best position I've found so far is 3/4 way down the tank, towards the back, and point the nozzle to the front middle and the difuser about 70 deg up. So it makes me wonder, is it too much for my volume and should I just get 2 koralia's?

Thanks a bunch

maxi jets shoot water very directly at things. A Koralias flow is very wide. You may have better luck with them.

No way is it too much. I think a MJ1200 is only 295 g/h. Depending on your coral, you may want quite a bit more flow than that. Even with no coral, I would suggest at least 3 MJ1200s in a 55 gallon tank. Flow is your friend.

+1 on not too much. IMO it may not be enough.

I have 4 maxijets in my 65g on a wavemaker without a problem. I keep them high in the tank so I have higher flow up high but lower in the tank it is more gentle. No problems with mushrooms, etc. on the bottom. Try playing around with positioning more.

One MJ 1200.....Not nearly enough.

Don't judge how things look in your tank compared to the LFS. They're most likely not the best example of proper husbandry.

When I had a 55 I think I had 2 Maxi Mods plus three other 1200s. Not to mention the return flow.

dont buy a koralia, when all you need is this.

it acts the same by pushing the water in a wider pattern instead of a straight stream, not to mention it will add alot more water movement.
