General Skimmer question

do skimmers perform optimally by keeping their riser necks clean?

just curious.

my CPR seemed to work better when the nexk was clean, but my new skimmer (home built) seems to work better when its dirty.
Im curious what others have run into as well

yes, they perform better with the skimmer neck clean. otherwise, the rising bubbles hit the scum line and break there, instead of rising all the way to the collection cup.
