Start with a downward facing elbow in the bulkhead.

Not sure about the pump... but the overflow is a simple fix. Go get a 90 elbow and face it down.

Looks like you have the standpipe constructed already. If it's still surging after you add the downturned elbow, you may need to cut a hole in the top of the standpipe to vent out the trapped air.

thanks so much

one more question. do i just pop it in there... or do i have to glue it? sorry if thats a mental question. i had someone come put this in so im not all that handy
