bermuda rogue wave skimmer

hello ... a quick background..

I have a 70 gallon FOWLR currently with a remora non pro version with mj1200...

i wanna upgrade my skimmer.. it is my only source of filtration.. believe me i tried to fit a sump underneath the builtin the wall setup but its impossible... a remora is not cutting it anymore...

after my research i have concluded that i want either the deltec mce600 or the bermuda rogue wave skimmer. (used ofcourse)

i have heard the bermuda rogue is the king HOB right now.. even better than the deltec... but this is based on old threads... i cant get the search function to work all day!!

what is the current opinion on the bermuda rogue HOB skimmer??

pics to back up pleasseee?????

i guess my only concern with the deltec is quality of the pumps.. its costs $130 to replace? since im buying used this is much more scary to me.. with the rogue, its a mag 5 pump.. so its much less and i can buy it used..

can i use a different pump with the deltec in case that one from the factory breaks??

I've used the Octo 100F and have loved it. If you can wait two new models should be out any day. the 300F with 2 pumps and the 800 with a sicce pump.

I have not even cleaned my mce600 in the last year the pumps work great and margins customer service is great the pump has a 2 year warranty from deltec

The mag5 will be hanging in your tank making the tank louder and seeing the pump is distracting.

Without a sump you will need a skimmer that can process as much water as possible and also have great circulation in the tank. I know because I have a 33 gallon without a sump and it is a pain without a great skimmer.

You could look for an external skimmer and place it next to the tank. I have a 75 with the Octo 100 on it, and just picked up a used Bermuda 3c. I am building a cabinet to mount to the wall and put the skimmer in there, plus most good performing hob's are out of my dollar range.

I have a Bermuda Rouge Wave PS paired up with a mag 5 and it works great! It pulls out about a cup or more of dark skimmate in about a day. Real quiet too.

Yeah the rogue is versatile bacause you can choose your pump. any pump at 500 to 700 gph will due very well. MCE 600 is nice too. I don't understand the cnc thang since it's very new, and only custom made to order and I've never heard from any one who has run it honestly past a normal skimmer break in time. Putting it at the top of any list is gross misrepresentation until it has proved itself.
