Making The Leap From FW to SW

iv been keeping a 55g freshwater fish tank for a few years now. i want to start up a 10g FOWLR tank (i know its small but i have a new 10g tank just sitting here). will i be able to just use like a Aquaclear HOB filter or will i need a skimmer? what else will i need? and also what will i be able to keep in it anything besides a fish or two? what kinda fish would be best? how much live rock/sand? sorry for all the noob questions but i really dont know much about saltwater. i wanna do my research before i jump into this. i heard this forum has some really experienced people thanks. open to any feedback

Hello,
My first SW tank was 14 gallons. As you have previous FW experience, I believe you can pull this off if you use discretion. I believe that bad things happen quickly in small tanks, so you will have to keep on top of it.
A skimmer is better, and I would suggest finding a decent combination filter/skimmer similar to a Skilter (not recommending Skilter, just a reference point). Back in the stone age a few decades ago, people kept fish well enough without one.
As far as fish, a COUPLE of fish like percula or ocellaris clowns, chromis, or damsels would probably be fine in a tank that size (I kept a damsel and a firefish goby).
Keep on top of evaporation make up to mainatin salinity.
Hope this helps and encourages
