If I put a skimmer that is too big for my tank, will it not work as good as a smaller

If I put a skimmer that is too big for my tank, will it not work as good as a smaller? I have a 200g tank with a 65g sump. I've been running a ASM G3 skimmer and it does well. I've just been offered a great deal on a Deltec AP702, which is good for a normal stock 530g, or a heavily stocked 400g. If I buy this, will it be too big and not take out enough crap because of 10'' barrel?

Get it and skim very dry, I have never used this skimmer, but in theory this should work better than any smaller less capable unit. You just don't want to wet skim with it as it may decrease your salinity too quickly... IMO

I use a skimmer rated for 200 gallons on my 29G, and 125 gallons on my 20L frag setup. I am an overskimmer

I would get it. Worst case scenario is you have to add more fish. lol. I have seen the 702 on 150g before with no bad effects.

If it doesn't skim well then sell it and you can get a brand new ASM or euroreef
