after I razor blade it I rub the glass down with acetone, it will make the little pieces peel right off.

For clarification, I take it this is not inside a tank that is set up.

Does acetone damage glass/ I have starrphire.

Afraid to razor too much.

Just some smudge on some areas.

nope - used it many times. I believe rubbing alcohol will also work. Neither dissolves the silicone, it just helps break its hold on the glass. dabbing some on a paper towel then rubbing the area will result in the smaller pieces of silicone breaking free. you should wipe down the area with clean dry towels after but most will evaporate anyway. HTH

I have used a product called Naptha (probably on the shelf next to acetone). It dissolves silicone but I cannot recommend its' use inside the tank as I have never used it for that.

i'd be worried about using something that dissolves silicone in that some would get on some critical joints and dissolve the silicone there.

Its just slight smudge on the inside. Im sure if I wipe and clean it, it'll be fine. ITs not like imma blast the interior and soak it. But good point. I will be extremely careful and mask and rag the coreners. Just some flaws that irks me. LOL.
